JOB SUMMARY: Reporting to the Regional Chief Nursing Officer, the Director of Nursing Clinical Excellence – Temple Market (Regional Magnet Director) influences and evaluates current and future clinical initiatives impacting patient safety, patient outcomes, nursing practice and organizational objectives as a member, leader or executive sponsor of clinical excellence in the respective facility. Advocate for standardized evidence-based care across the organization through policy, order set and other processes. Provide counsel and oversight regarding nursing scope of practice and BSWH nursing peer review.
This position has oversight of the Magnet-designated Temple market which consists of an adult Level I Trauma Center, Level II Pediatric Trauma Center, Continuing Care Hospital, hospice, and all associated clinics.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Coordinate all activities related to the market’s Journey to Magnet designation/re-designation - Required to be well-versed on all Magnet standards and act as a resource and liaison between the Chief Nursing Officer, and others, to assess Magnet readiness - Initiate, promote and advocate for standardized, evidence based clinical initiatives to enhance patient safety, best practices and compliance with regulatory/legal requirements. - Collaborate with BSWH colleagues to serve as a consultant regarding nursing scope of practice and provide oversight for the BSWH nursing peer review process. - Lead, coordinate and/or facilitate the implementation of clinical initiatives. Promote dissemination of complete, consistent and timely communication to support patient centered outcomes in support of organizational objectives. - Coach, counsel and mentor future nursing leaders to grow and maintain a highly professional nursing workforce capable of delivering competent and compassionate care to meet patient needs and expectations as well as organizational objectives. - Collaborate with clinical leaders across the organization to evaluate, guide, promote and advocate for clinical initiatives impacting quality and organizational care improvement efforts. - Lead development and implementation of a shared decision-making structure and support the work through clinical councils to operationalize quality improvement initiatives through thorough and thoughtful analysis resulting in feasible workflow and communication in the current environment of care. - Supports nursing research through fiscal and human resources
PREFERRED CANDIDATE PROFILE: - 5 years of clinical experience, preferably in acute care, along with progressive leadership - Well-versed in all Magnet standards and experience leading the Magnet Designation process, as a Magnet Director or Coordinator
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: - Master’s Degree (preferably in Nursing) - 5 years of experience - Registered Nurse (RN)
