The healthcare industry faces many problems – affordability, substandard customer service and inconsistency in care quality. Governments and employers struggle with funding health plans and have continued to shift more of the financial burden of care to consumers. Our healthcare system is not designed around the consumer needs, which has led to a subpar customer service interactions that have created an erosion of trust with patients. Inconsistent care quality and standards have led to poor patient outcomes and negative perceptions of health systems. We recognize that we must reimagine how we engage with our patients and the communities we serve to solve these salient pain points.
Baylor Scott and White (BSWH) is building a consumer-focused strategy to solve these problems. We are innovating new models of care and support as a part of a new Consumer Products business, which will function as an internal startup within the health system. The team will innovate and develop new products and market and sell them to reach consumers through multiple channels. Our initial product focus centers on virtual coaching, first contact navigation, next-gen urgent care, and centers of excellence.
The consumer products division is comprised of three groups – Strategy, Product and Customers. We are looking for people to join this exciting new team who are passionate problem solvers that want to develop a new care paradigm to positively transform how patients interact with our system.
The Innovation Portfolio Manager is aligned under the Strategy group and will report to the Innovation Portfolio Director. The Strategy team will have a high visibility to BSWH’s top executives. The Innovation Portfolio Manager is responsible for supervising strategy and review of research intake to develop product and portfolio planning and strategy, as well as supervising product research projects while monitoring progress and reporting findings. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an innovative team that is changing the status quo in how a healthcare provider goes to market and provides an environment that stimulates professional growth.
