Department of Surgery, Vice Chair of Quality
The Department of Surgery at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine seeks a Vice Chair of Quality who will be a full-time tenure track Investigator at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. Responsibilities include leading the Department’s initiatives related to health services and outcomes research (HSOR) as well as serving in additional hospital and university leadership positions focused on surgical quality and patient safety, outcomes and/or health services. The Vice Chair of Quality will oversee all quality and safety activities for the Department of Surgery and will guide surgical quality measurement and improvement initiatives. Qualified candidates should be a surgeon-scientist, and must have an established track record of extramural funding to support academic endeavors in HSOR. In addition to an MD, formal training in the area of HSOR with additional degrees such an MPH or PhD are highly desirable. Candidates with expertise in implementation science, social science, psychometrics, bioinformatics and surgical quality are of particular interest. Candidates must (1) be board certified or eligible by the American Board of Surgery and pertinent subspecialty, if applicable; (2) have completed an accredited fellowship or equivalent training in their respective area of practice, and (3) be able to obtain permanent Illinois licensure.
