Service Chief for Primary Care, Integrated Center for Clinical Excellence
Medical University of South Carolina
WittKieffer has partnered with the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) School of Medicine and MUSC Health to identify a collaborative and entrepreneurial physician leader to serve as its next Chief of the Primary Care Integrated Center for Clinical Excellence (ICCE Chief). As MUSC Health continues its rapid growth, the next ICCE Chief will have an unprecedented opportunity to substantially advance primary care services across the state of South Carolina.
Located in Charleston, South Carolina, MUSC is South Carolina's only comprehensive academic health science center and a key component of MUSC Health. It is South Carolina's #1 and most preferred hospital (as ranked by U.S. News & World Report on its Best Hospitals for the seventh consecutive year), a NCI-designated Cancer Center, two Level I Trauma Centers and South Carolina's only nationally recognized Children's Hospital.
This innovative integrated health care system includes four hospitals in downtown Charleston, more than 100 outreach locations, over 300 telehealth sites, and nearly 750 care locations situated in the Lowcountry, Midlands, Pee Dee and upstate regions of South Carolina. There are 93 physicians and 35 advanced practice faculty and affiliate faculty members with the Department of Primary Care.
The ICCE Chief provides strategic oversight and leadership to all primary care services throughout MUSC Health. They will lead strategic, growth and operational objectives across the MUSC Health system to manage primary care service delivery. The incumbent will collaborate with executive leadership on the further development of infrastructure supporting the development of a primary care service line, health system operations, workforce development, internal and external stakeholder partnerships, financial planning, budgeting, policy-making and administration.
Reporting to the Chief Physician Executive of MUSC Health, the incoming ICCE Chief must be passionate about building clinical programs of excellence, integrating with the community and envisioning a lasting impact on the primary care of South Carolinians. The successful candidate will be a primary care physician with an outstanding record of accomplishments, who has served in progressive leadership positions at a leading academic medical center, or integrated delivery system and has an appreciation of academic medicine.
