Northwell Health’s Emergency Medicine Service Line Supports and Our Diverse and Inclusive Culture
At Northwell Health, we are committed to creating a supportive, welcoming environment for everyone, and our physicians help foster our inclusive culture. The Emergency Medicine Service Line (EMSL) has a goal of building a team that represents the diverse population that we care for, and we work to achieve that goal through the following initiatives:
Emergency Medicine Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee: Works to create and maintain systemic and behavioral changes that encapsulate the mission of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Truly Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Physician Award: Recognizes physicians who promote belonging, value diversity, and advance inclusion.
Business Employee Resource Groups: Enhances engagement, innovation, talent development, and promote an inclusive culture.
Center for Equity of Care: Aims to advance the delivery of culturally inclusive health care and effective communication in partnership with our communities to achieve health equity.
Physician Student Mentoring Program: Provides mentorship to high school students, including social and professional support.
Clinical Leadership Development Program: Allows participants to develop their leadership skills and to get to know their peers from across the health system.
“Northwell not only provides opportunities for you, but they encourage you to pursue them. They recognize your potential and want to see you grow.” -Chad S., Physician Assistant
“Northwell has made it their mission and vision to bring diversity and inclusion to all sites within its network. You can bring different groups sorts of people to the table, but the inclusion part is giving them a voice, and I believe Northwell does that very well.” -Christopher D., Supervising ACP
“We acknowledge together as one team that diversity and inclusion is important for us, but also for our patients.” -Joseph C., Physician
