Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced program manager to join our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEI&B) team. As a program manager, you will be responsible for overseeing multiple cross-functional projects and ensuring that they are delivered on time, within budget, and meet the required quality standards. In addition, you will be responsible for the leadership and management of Duke Health affinity groups. You will work closely with the DEI&B team as well as cross-functional teams in Duke Health to develop and execute project plans, manage risks, and communicate progress to stakeholders.
Statement of Responsibility
The position reports to the director of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging. It will play a key role in helping create and execute diversity, equity, and inclusion priorities at Duke University Health System. The Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEI&B) Program Manager will partner with the director to drive the development, design, and implementation of initiatives that foster a diverse and inclusive workplace culture where employees feel they belong. It will also support the system's initiatives to enhance recruitment, development and retention of a high-performing, diverse talent force. This person is a passionate DEI&B champion who will proactively support DUHS's DEI&B business strategy and objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Work cross-functionally to facilitate meetings and create project plans that include success metrics, timelines, and milestones to achieve project goals.
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Organizational Leadership Effectiveness, Culture and Well-being, Human Resources and other stakeholders, to ensure that projects are aligned with business objectives.
Identify and manage project risks, issues, and dependencies, and develop contingency plans as needed.
Communicate project status, strategic recommendations, and risks to stakeholders, including employee experience leadership team.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and drive innovation.
Develop and maintain project documentation, including project charters, status reports, and other project artifacts.
Support HR in updating policies, job descriptions, hiring process and values to meet equal opportunity guidelines, prevent unconscious biases, and facilitate inclusion
Serve as the affinity group subject matter expert; support leaders to help drive group initiatives, assist with planning and program budgeting, coordinate the development of new BRGs/ERGs and group guidelines; develop and monitor metrics
Partner with our C&W, OLE, Change Management and other department teams to develop and deliver training programs to support a diverse and inclusive environment
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Work requires communications, analytical and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.
Experience
Work requires the ability to plan and administer programs and direct program activities within a specific functional area, generally acquired through four years of related experience. OR ANY OTHER EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Preferred Education & Experience
Work requires project management, data analytics, communications, and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.
3-5 years of experience in program or project management or people and culture-related fields.
Experience in managing employee or business resource groups and familiarity with healthcare operations and strategy.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver them on time and within budget.
Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Experience with Agile development methodologies.
Familiarity with project management tools such as MS Teams and Smartsheet.
Any project management certification is a plus.
