Associate Program Director for Internal Medicine Residency Program – Ambulatory Care Section/Primary Care Medicine

VA Long Beach Medical Center is seeking a full-time permanent Primary Care Provider to function as the Internal Medicine Associate Program Director (APD).
The Associate Program Director will be responsible for the management of attending and resident clinic scheduling, resident quality improvement projects, resident counseling/evaluation, advancement, and the maintenance of records related to program accreditation. Participate in academic societies and in educational programs, local and national meetings designed to enhance their educational and administrative skill. Work closely with the Primary Care Health Care Group Chief, Primary Care Health Care Group Section Chiefs, Chief of Patient Care Services, Nurse Supervisors, Business Managers, and the Administrative Officer. Overall understand the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) requirements for the institution, core programs, fellowships, and work in close collaboration with the Internal Medicine Residency Program director at the University of California Irvine.
Program Size: Approximately 100 residents, 80 categorical, rotating through the VA for subspecialty clinics and 40 has Primary Care Clinic at the VA. The position will require 40% admin work and 60% clinical time.
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am-4:30pm (80-hour biweekly work shifts)
Qualifications:
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Must possess a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a state territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Completed a Residency Training or Fellowship in an accredited core specialty program.
Board Certified in Internal Medicine, active.
Academia and Teaching attending experience required.
Current VA Employee’s welcomed.
