SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Reports directly to the Director Revenue Integrity. The Manager Ambulatory Coding will plan, organize and implement current and future strategies to optimize the revenue flow of the health system through professional coding.
This position is responsible for the management of coding compliance, establishing working relationships with Penn State Health Revenue Cycle leadership, charge account analysis, ensuring staffing productivity guidelines are set at appropriate levels and being maintained, optimizing best business practices and achieving best results.
Responsible for leading and managing a team dedicated to optimizing revenue and improving efficiency through strategic management and review of rev cycle processes focused on revenue integrity areas coding, provider documentation, charge capture process and workflows, revenue cycle compliance and regulatory issues, coding and auditing at a health system level. Coding team managers' report directly to this Ambulatory Coding Manager as well as other direct reports. Manage a staff of 25 plus direct reports and dotted line to clinical specialty departments.
Actively engage in the system build projects and onboarding processes for new practices, facilities and hospitals in order to ensure standard coding policies, procedures and processes are in place and followed for the health system.Â
Manage the strategic and tactical activities of the professional coding staff in the delivery of efficient and effective services including management of staff, technologies and customer service initiatives.
Participate in revenue and system meetings and committees to support the health system at a high level of decision making on a weekly and monthly basis.
Manage monthly charge reconciliation process across the health system.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree plus 3 years of leadership experience with professional coding required or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience in Revenue Cycle professional coding required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
5 years of supervisory and coding experience is preferred.
CPC preferred.
