UC Davis School of Medicine seeks an outstanding and distinguished physician leader with a record of significant contributions in academic anesthesiology to serve as the next Chair of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine. As the clinical engine, UC Davis Health (UCDH) is a multi-billion-dollar health system within the University of California System, which includes the 646-bed academic medical center, 32 ambulatory sites, a 1,000-member medical group and an NCI-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center.
The Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine serves as a central pillar for the School of Medicine and UC Davis Health, providing high quality anesthesia and pain services alongside a commitment to medical education, training and research. The Department is home to approximately 70 anesthesiologists and pain medicine specialists who are accompanied by over 55 nurse anesthetists, covering seven specialty areas. The Department offers comprehensive training to residents, fellows and medical students and is currently building upon its scholarly achievements.
The Chair will be a passionate and forward-thinking academic leader committed to recruiting and retaining outstanding academic leaders and improving the mechanisms of care delivery. The successful candidate will collaborate across the School of Medicine and Health System while possessing outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to recruit, promote the growth of others, inspire, manage and collaborate. This leader will set forth uncompromising standards of professionalism and an ability to take a larger institutional view, which is integral to the Department's and the Health System's success. Candidates must possess an M.D. or equivalent degree and board certification in Anesthesiology and warrant qualification for appointment to Professor at the School of Medicine.

The salary range for this position is $500,000-$750,000. This position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation plan.
