Position is accountable for multi-site clinical operational support with focus on safety, education, orientation and competency, clinical quality, infection prevention and employee health. Receives direction from Senior Director of Nursing and Optum West Chief Nursing Officer. Demonstrates excellent clinical knowledge of nursing process, understands inter-disciplinary approach to clinical management. Oversees professional administrative practices to ensure health and safety regulatory compliance and accountabilities Position is accountable to collaborate with Optum West Region Operations Team and Provider/Physician Leadership to improve quality, cost, patient service and operational performance. Develops and executes strategies to implement organizational mission, vision and values that optimize patient outcomes and financial performance. Facilitates excellent customer service and satisfaction while achieving organization-specific quality and financial goals. Develops and participates in companywide policy and procedures to monitor and ensure company and regulatory compliance and consistency. Recruits, retains and promotes outstanding teammates. Primary Responsibilities:
General:
Acts as a clinical resource to teammates
Leads the practice health and Safety team
Participates in performing practice health and safety assessments
Participates on/leads committees, policy and procedure development, special projects and process improvement initiatives
Supports Performance Improvement Programs and patient safety programs and initiatives
Education, Clinical Competency Validation:
Collaborates with clinical education team
Collaborates with educators to create, implement and evaluate education, special projects and quality programs
Implements and leads teammates development activities
Develops and teaches comprehensive curriculum
Analyzes research and integrates into current practice
Supports/Leads process improvement activities (LEAN Performance improvement)
Develops/leads distance education and standardization
Quality:
Leads structured clinical quality and infection prevention assessment (audit) process
Monitors quality of patient care, in an out-patient environment, utilizing the nursing process and performance improvement models
Identifies and assesses the appropriateness and safety of care for known and potential problems; evaluates outcomes
Develops policies and procedures that meet regulatory agency compliance and standards of care

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in nursing
Graduate degree in healthcare or nursing
Active unrestricted RN license in the State of Washington
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
5+ years of clinical nursing experience
3+ years of management experience with successive promotions and Site Audit (assessment experience)
Ability to review root cause of problems, issues, develop plans in collaboration with others and implement plans for process improvement
Demonstrated ability to lead others and to think outside of conventional processes
Possess knowledge of research techniques, data analysis and reporting, forward/strategic planning and integration of technologies within staff development initiatives
Knowledgeable about regulatory requirements such as OSHA and regulatory/accrediting requirements
Principles of adult learning and education
Epidemiology principles and concepts of infection prevention and nursing theory
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters in Nursing
Currently enrolled in a graduate program
Solid leadership and organizational skills including group and team building, coaching, communication of vision, change management, and people/product focus balance
Advanced ability to develop people, empowerment and accountability at all levels
Solid sense of integrity and ability to command the respect of patients and employees at all levels
Ability to create and maintain a caring culture. Must possess strong analytical skills
Demonstrated ability to lead groups successfully coupled with solid interpersonal, excellent oral and communication skills
Demonstrated skills in performance improvement process, program development, project management, computer technology, database development and management and instruction design
Proficient in field of nursing practice and possess independent clinical skills
Washington Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $104,700 to $190,400 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
