Guthrie Clinic a non-profit physician-led integrated health care delivery system is seeking candidates Board Certified in Hospice and Palliative Care to lead Guthrie’s Hospice & Palliative Care program.
Highlights of the Position
As the Chief of Hospice and Palliative Care Medicine, this role has responsibility for the medical component of the hospice’s patient care program as well as overseeing of the Palliative Medicine department.
The Chief is accountable to be a mentor, leader, change agent, and resource for best practice models for hospice and palliative care to ensure the delivery of quality medical palliative care.
This role will be responsible for Hospice and Palliative Care in all of Guthrie’s Hospital sites (Pennsylvania – Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre & Towanda locations; Troy Hospital) (New York – Corning Hospital, Cortland Hospital and Lourdes Hospital).
In addition to hospital locations, this role oversees all hospice locations, including the implementation of the entire physician, nursing, social work, therapy and counseling areas within hospice and Palliative Medicine departments to ensure that these areas consistently meet patient and family needs.
This role will have 0.7 clinical FTE and 0.3 FTE for administrative duties.

Candidate must be board certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine
Minimum of 3 years of Palliative Care experience, preferably at a large hospital or academic medical center, ideally in a diverse, urban and highly regulated market with a high ratio of Medicaid-insured patient population.
Experience should include minimum of 3 years in a leadership role either within an academic Division or Department or in one or more enterprise positions within their home hospital or health system.
Successful track record leading cost management initiatives and experience with budget management preferred.
Must have demonstrated a commitment to professional development along with mentoring and coaching of faculty and team members.
Must have demonstrated experience leading faculty in professional development.
Must hold active license in NY and PA or be eligible for medical licensure.
