About the Role:

Job Summary:
The Nurse Manager for the Surgical Trauma Intensive Care Unit (STICU) and Trauma IMCU provides leadership and 24/7 accountability for high-acuity patient care in a dynamic, fast-paced environment within a Level I Trauma Center. The units deliver advanced, evidence-based care to critically ill surgical, trauma, orthopedic, and neurological patients requiring intensive monitoring and complex clinical interventions.

This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of daily operations, including staffing, budget, quality outcomes, and regulatory readiness. The Nurse Manager supports a culture of clinical excellence, fosters interprofessional collaboration, and promotes staff engagement and development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead operations for STICU/TIMCU within a Level I Trauma Center

• Ensure safe, high-quality care for critically ill patients

• Supervise clinical and ancillary staff; support charge nurses and educators

• Collaborate with trauma, surgical, and critical care teams to optimize outcomes

• Manage staffing, budgeting, and performance evaluations

• Maintain clinical competency and assist in patient care as needed

• Support shared governance, education, and professional development initiatives

Qualifications:

• Required:

  • Current RN license in Georgia

  • BSN or MSN (Master's required within 5 years if BSN only)

  • 3-5 years of RN experience, preferably in critical care

  • At least 1 year of direct healthcare supervision

  • Certification in clinical or leadership specialty within 2 years of hire

  • Membership in a professional nursing organization within 1 month of hire

• Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Nursing or related field

  • 2+ years of nursing leadership experience

  • Previous ICU or trauma nursing leadership experience
