This is a management position that oversees the daily operations of the chart processing area of the Health Information Management Department in coordination with the HIM Director by hiring and training qualified personnel, conducting performance evaluations, scheduling work, making assignments, and identifying and resolving problems.  The HIM Supervisor is responsible for the ensuring the effective workflow of the scanning clerical areas of the department. Monitors staff performance. Is responsible for providing system administration for the medical record scanning system.  Oversees and maintains the scanning system to include file maintenance, end user training, upgrading, troubleshooting, and creating custom reports.

• A high level of professionalism and effective communication skills is needed for interaction with physicians, physician office staff, hospital staff, patients, and visitors.
• Competent in use of office equipment. 
• Must be computer literate, including Word, Power Point, Publisher, and Excel. 
• Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, can perform multiple tasks with frequent interruptions. 
• Must perform in an independent manner, have strong organizational skills, and excel in analyzing and adjusting to achieve maximum efficiency and timeliness of response to requests. 
• Must be detailed oriented.  Must promote public relations through prompt and courteous customer service. 
• Must be flexible, dependable, and demonstrate the ability to adapt to change.

Required:

• High school diploma or G.E.D. 
• Three years of lead/supervisory experience in an acute care facility with experience directly related to Health Information Management.
• One year hospital based electronic medical records experience

Preferred:

• RHIT or RHIA
