New York Medical College (NYMC) School of Medicine (SOM) seeks a distinguished leader in the field of rehabilitation medicine to occupy this Endowed Chair position. The SOM's Department of Rehabilitation Medicine has 22 faculty members who are based across NYMC clinical affiliate sites including Metropolitan Hospital Center and the James J. Peters Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, both in New York City, and Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, New York.
The Department supports the mission of NYMC to educate and train the next generation of physicians through its medical student programs and a fully accredited ACGME residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation located at Metropolitan Hospital. The Endowed Chair will serve as the chair of rehabilitation medicine at Metropolitan Hospital with the expectation to provide oversight toward maintaining the program's accreditation by the ACGME. The Endowed Chair will prioritize and lead the direction of the department in clinical and translational research including the mentorship of trainees and faculty leading to scholarly contributions and extramurally funded grants & contracts.
The Endowed Chair serves as the academic chair of the NYMC Department of Rehabilitation Medicine reporting to the Dean of the SOM and serves as chair of Metropolitan Hospital's Department of Rehabilitation Medicine reporting to the CMO and CEO.
