Department: Pulmonary Services FTE: 1.00 Full Time Shift: Days
Position Summary: Develop, implement, and direct the provision of therapeutic, diagnostic preventative, and patient education of respiratory patient care services. Responsible for the management and technical direction of Pulmonary Services. Ensures adherence to Hospital and Departmental Policies and Procedures. Patient care assignment may include; Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric age groups
Detailed responsibilities: * REPORTS - Maintain a record and analysis of monthly reports from accounting, including services provided, expenses and revenues * EQUIPMENT - Ensure that equipment is maintained * PLANS - Plan, coordinate, and direct the activities of supervisory, clerical, quality assurance, educational and technical personnel * SUPPLIES - Meet with vendors; evaluate equipment and supplies * QUALITY ASSURANCE - Maintain quality assurance programs * GOALS & POLICIES - Develop and maintain department goals, objectives, policies, procedures, changes and job descriptions * COMMITTEES AND MEETINGS - Attend technical and administrative meetings; participate in committee functions; participate in hospital-wide activities and committees within the scope of this position or as directed * DEVELOPMENT - Keep current on respiratory therapy and management advances by attending technical and administrative meetings * SUPERVISION - Develop efficient organizational structure, supervise employees - select, terminate, train, educate, correct deficiencies, perform appraisals, issue discipline, counsel, schedule work assignments; encourage staff teamwork and growth initiatives * BUDGET - Develop and administer the division's annual budget; monitor and approve expenditures * PATIENT SAFETY 1 - Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols * PATIENT SAFETY 2 - Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes * PATIENT SAFETY 3 - Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk * PATIENT SAFETY 4 - Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner * PATIENT SAFETY 5 - Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right"
Qualifications
Education: Essential: * Master's Degree Education specialization: Essential: * Related Discipline w/in 36 Months of Assignment
Experience: Essential: 5 years directly related experience
Credentials: Essential: * CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers w/in 30 days * Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification w/in 1 year * Respiratory Care Practitioner in NM * Registered Respiratory Therapist
Physical Conditions: Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
