Position Summary
The Manager, Transfer Center is responsible for the operational and clinical oversight of a 24/7 system-wide transfer and patient access center, supporting both adult and pediatric services. This role provides leadership for a team of 31 employees, including clinical staff and PARS support specialists, ensuring efficient coordination of patient transfers, access, and communication across the health system.
The Manager will oversee approximately 30 team members plus one clinical supervisor. The Connected Care Center serves as a centralized system-level function, with established processes in place and ongoing opportunities to strengthen workflow, communication, and operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate will be a BSN-prepared Registered Nurse with at least 5 years of nurse leadership experience, preferably from an Emergency Department, bringing broad clinical knowledge and the ability to support complex patient placement and transfer decisions. Success in this role requires a proactive, solutions-oriented leader who demonstrates energy, enthusiasm, and a commitment to excellence. This position, will be located at our Thomas Campus, 1919 E. Thomas Road, M - F, 8 AM - 5 PM.
The Manager Connected Care Center is a centralized, system-wide position overseeing the Connected Care Center directing both internal and external patient transfers and direct admissions from outside healthcare facilities, community physician offices, across the Phoenix Children’s system, and across the country. This position provides leadership and operational direction of capacity management, and patient flow.
Education
Bachelors in Nursing or equivalent combination of education and experience. (Required)
Masters degree in related field. (Preferred)
Experience
Five years of experience in the specialty area or with a pediatric patient population to include leadership and/or supervisory responsibilities. (Required)
Previous leadership experience in Transfer Center services. (Preferred)
Certifications
Current AZ RN license or an RN license from a compact state with multistate privileges or the ability to establish licensure to Arizona law prior to start date. (Required)
Special Skills
Strong report skills, including running data, analyzing data and using it to drive decisions for operations and strategy (Required)
Demonstrates critical thinking and problem solving abilities in order to resolve complex clinical, systems and personnel problems and issues which affect all clinical areas, both in clinics and hospitals. (Required)
Must be able to assume 24-hour accountability for unit coverage. (Required)
A thorough understanding of Throughput in health care. (Required)
